Decrisption

Working on two versions of the timeline—one for Chinese graphic design and one for foreign design—was both challenging and exciting. At the start, I wasn’t sure how to show them in a way that felt consistent but also true to their different histories. With the Chinese version, I had to pay close attention to local traditions and changes over time, while the international version pushed me to focus on key moments that shaped design around the world. I went through many rounds of changes, and along the way I realized the most interesting part wasn’t just each book on its own, but how the two spoke to each other. Each has its own voice, but when placed side by side, the connections and contrasts make the bigger story of graphic design much richer. This process taught me not only how to compare across cultures, but also how to respect the differences and let them stand out.
